High School Program

Horizons at Westminster has extended our commitment to our high school aged students, providing year-round opportunities designed to support their academic success, personal growth, and preparation for life after high school.

Program Highlights

One-on-One Mentorship
As students progress through high school, our focus expands with them. Through mentorship, academic support, college and career exposure, leadership opportunities, and meaningful community experiences, students will build the skills, relationships, and confidence needed to navigate high school and take their next steps with purpose.

High school students will be connected with caring adult mentors who will provide consistent encouragement, guidance, and support throughout the academic year. Mentors will be expected to maintain regular communication with students and families, participate in monthly check-ins, and help students work toward their academic and personal goals.

Academic Support & College Readiness
Students will receive ongoing academic support while developing skills in areas such as time management, organization, financial literacy, public speaking, and self-advocacy. College exposure will begin early through campus visits and conversations that help students and families better understand the opportunities and pathways available after graduation.

Career Exploration & Community Exposure
Through workplace visits, guest speakers, and hands-on experiences, students will continue to be introduced to professionals and career paths across a variety of industries. These experiences allow students to see possibilities for their futures while building the confidence and professional skills to pursue them.

Leadership Through Service
As our students grow, they will given countless opportunities to become leaders within the Horizons at Westminster community. High school students will serve as mentors and tutors to younger Horizons at Westminster students, allowing them to strengthen their own leadership skills while giving back to the community that has supported them.

Community Partners
Our growing network of community partners plays an important role in expanding what is possible for our students. Through partnerships with businesses, colleges and universities, nonprofit organizations, professionals, and community leaders, students will gain access to career exploration, college exposure, financial literacy, mentorship, service opportunities, and experiences that connect learning to the world around them.

Recent partners and collaborators have included Liberty Bank, Orthopedic Associates of Hartford, The Hartford, Sentry Commercial, Robinson & Cole, Travelers Claims University, The American Mural Project, UConn Sports Nutrition, Levo International, Dog Star Rescue, and local entrepreneurs and community leaders. Our network of community partners continues to expand, and we are always open to connecting with organizations and individuals who share our commitment to young people. We welcome the opportunity to build relationships that create meaningful experiences and new possibilities for our students.
