Saturday Academies
Horizons at Westminster hosts three Saturday Academies during the school year to facilitate year-round engagement with our students. Horizons teachers and volunteers oversee the day of learning and enrichment. Westminster students augment the experience by organizing sessions of story-telling, arts enrichment, and science experiments for the Horizons students. We end the day with a family-style meal before getting on the bus and returning students to Moylan. Trips to Moylan Every other week, a group of volunteers from Westminster travel to Moylan School, one of our partner schools in Hartford. During these visits, our Westminster and Horizons students get to re-connect, read books together, complete academic work, and engage in other school activities. Holiday Party Each December, Horizons hosts a holiday party for our Horizons students and their families at Moylan School. In addition to sharing a meal and passing out gift bags, Westminster students also plan and lead holiday-themed activities. Our holiday party is a fun and festive way to celebrate our Horizons community during the colder winter months! |
